Itinerary for the 12 Days Uganda wildlife safari with gorillas and chimps
Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe International Airport
On your arrival at Entebbe International Airport in Uganda, you will be welcomed by our representative and transferred for overnight in BB to the hotel, at Cassia Lodge – Lake Heights Hotel –Boma Hotel. BB

Day 2: Travel to Bwindi forest national park
Early morning you leave Entebbe and drive southwards to Bwindi forest national park. You will have stopover at the Equator and lunch will be in Mbarara, the capital town of the Ankole region. You will see the typical acacia savannah and the terraced hills, where the people rear the Ankole cattle with long horns.

The transfer is long, about 8 hours. Dinner and overnight at Bwindi Engagi Lodge– Bakiga Lodge / Cuckooland Lodge – Gorilla Valley Lodge. Full Board

Note: Today transfer is variable, according to the location of the gorilla permits and road conditions

Day 3: Gorilla tracking activity
Mountain gorilla trekking in Democratic Republic of CongoAfter breakfast proceed to the park and have a briefing from the guides of Uganda Wildlife Authority, set off for the gorilla tracking in the forest sanctuary. The activity starts at 8.00am and you join the other members according to the distribution of the gorilla families, only eight per family each day.

You need to carry with you the packed lunch, enough drinking water, rain jacket in case of rain and trekking boots while the rangers will provide you with a walking stick. If you are not sure of your fitness you might hire a porter and pay him a tip to help you carrying the bag. It is unpredictable how long will take to find the primates as they freely move into the forest.

The encounter with the gorillas, lasts for about one hour, certainly is a rewarding experience and an unforgettable one. Dinner and overnight at Bwindi Engagi Lodge – Bakiga Lodge / Cuckooland Lodge – Gorilla Valley Lodge. Full Board

Day 4: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park
After breakfast, drive to Lake Mburo National Park, a small game national park found in the central region of Uganda, the Ankole. This is the perfect stop over between Bwindi and Entebbe. After lunch, go for game drive in search for the beautiful impalas, elands, topi and many antelopes, buffaloes, zebras.

Dinner and overnight at Rwakobo Rock Lodge – Mantana Mburo Tented Camp / Mburo Safari Lodge – Arcadia Cottages Mburo. Full Board

Day 5: Visit the source of River Nile and proceed to Mbale town
After breakfast, we will drive towards Kampala and pass heads to Jinja city. We will visit the source of River Nile, the longest in the world.

Have lunch, then proceed towards Mbale town in the Bugisu kingdom on the way to Sebei land where River Sipi runs bringing water from the Mount. Elgon. Dinner and overnight at Sipi River Lodge / Lacam Lodge. Full Board

Day 6: Explore the Sipi Falls and proceed to Lira
1 Day Sipi falls tour which involves a hike to 3 waterfalls, a visit to the caves and the coffee plantations.After breakfast, you will trek through the Sipi Falls, characterised by four spectacular falls along river Sipi, flowing down the Mount Elgon. The area is particularly panoramic with view of the Karamoja valley. The activity will take you through the daily life of a typical African village.

Lunch and in the afternoon proceed the journey to Lira, one of the capital towns of the Acholi land, in the direction to Kidepo Valley National Park. Stop over is made at the archaeological site of Nyeru Rock Painting near Kumi. Dinner and overnight at Lilian Towers Hotel/ Brownstone Country Guest House. Full Board

Day 7: Transfer to Kidepo Valley National Park
After breakfast, you will proceed northwards to Kidepo Valley National Park. This park is named after the river traversing this region at the border between Sudan and Kenya. This is one of the most conserved wild places remaining in Africa. Lunch en route. Dinner and overnight at Nga’Moru Wilderness Camp/ UWA Bandas.

The Bandas are modest but comfortable, with hot water and basic modern facilities. Mostly, the touch and immersion in the nature of the park is a guarantee. Full Board

Note: Today transfer is very long through the dirt roads of Karamoja; it is also possible to change the accommodation to Apoka Safari Lodge with a supplement.

Day 8: Game drives along the Kidepo trails

Kidepo contains one of the most exciting faunas of any Ugandan parks, with over 80 species of mammals several of which restricted only to Kidepo, like cheetah, striped hyena and caracal.

The bird list boasts over 465 species. A part from the game drive, on request a visit to the local Karamojong homestead or “manyattas” can be organised. Full board and overnight at Nga’Moru Wilderness Camp/ UWA bandas. Full Board

Day 9: Morning game drive and travel to Gulu
After breakfast, last game drive or activity in Kidepo Valley national park. Proceed in the direction of Murchison Falls National Park, the biggest national park of Uganda. The distance is long therefore another stop over is needed in between. Lunch en route. Arrive in the afternoon in Gulu, dinner and overnight at Bomah Hotel / The Pagoda. Full Board

Note: Today transfer is long, about 3 hours drive on dirt roads. If you like, today you can be accommodated at the Cottages of Comboni Good Samaritans of Gulu and see their social projects in handicraft, tailoring, education and other projects.

Day 10: Transfer to Murchison Falls national park
After breakfast, we travel to Murchison Falls National Park, the biggest park in Uganda with a wide variety of animals and bird’s species,we will visit the Karuma Falls, at found along the River Nile when it passes under Kampala- Gulu Highway.

we shall be able to walk towards the water with the help of local guides, it is possible to spot some snake species, like African cobra, mamba, puff udder etc. as well as baboons, elephants, buffaloes and other monkey species.

Lunch and afterwards drive towards the Murchison Falls National Park where we shall have a game drive on the way to the hotel, Dinner and Night at Paraa safari Lodge –Murchison River Lodge /Pakuba Lodge. Full Board

Day 11: Game drives and Boat cruise
Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda's biggest national parkAfter breakfast, you will have and enjoy a game drive to look for lions, giraffes, herds of elephants, buffaloes and many more. Lunch. In the afternoon embark on a boat cruise to the foot of the Falls.

This boat trip along the Nile allows you to see the animals closely. And for the bird lovers, the bird life is stunning with brightly colored kingfishers and bee-eaters darting along the river banks. Dinner and overnight at Paraa safari Lodge / Pakuba Lodge.Full Board

Day 12: Chimpanzee Tracking in Budongo and transfer back to Entebbe
After breakfast, we will go for chimpanzee tracking in Kaniyo Pabidi Forest. This is an undisturbed area of natural forest within Budongo Forest Reserve with chimpanzee tracking as the most famous activity. You will certainly see many forest birds, and other primates in this area. Lunch. Afterwards, you will proceed to Kampala / Entebbe for your departure flight.
