5 Days Rwanda Primates safari, gorilla trekking and golden monkey tracking tour

This 5 Days Rwanda Primates safari, gorilla trekking and golden monkey tracking tour is a stunning safari package that transfers to Rwanda’s primate destinations including Volcanoes national park where you will engage into gorilla trekking and golden monkey tracking and Nyungwe Forest national park famous for chimpanzee tracking.

This a mazing safari will further take you through a great canopy walk experience with great views of the Nyungwe forest a home to about 400 chimpanzees as well as over 13 primate species, birding watching, encountering other primates like monkeys, among others.

Program for the 5 Days Rwanda Primates safari

Day 1: Transfer to Nyungwe National Park
Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport or from your hotel of residence you will be picked by our driver guide and be briefed on your 5 Days Rwanda Primates safari program, then immediately embark on your journey to Nyungwe Forest national park situated in the south western part of Rwanda.

Expect to have a stopover for lunch, and a visit to the Butare Museum and the former presidential palace in Nyanza. Arriving in Nyungwe in the evening, check into your hotel for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking and Canopy walk
Very early in the morning after our breakfast, we drive straight away to the starting point to catch up with the briefing session. After briefing you will enter into the Nyugwe Forest alongside the ranger and the park guide to locate the chimpanzees. When you spot them, you will have 1 hour to spend with them.

While in the forest you will as well see other primate species like the colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys, baboons, grey-cheecked mangabeys, L’hoest’s red tailed monkeys, among others and a variety of bird species. After tracking, you will return to starting where you will meet your driver guide for a transfer to lodge for relaxation and lunch.

In the afternoon, you will go for the amazing canopy walk experience which starts at Uwinka reception centre and get to see the entire forest from an elevated view for about 2 hours. It is an amazing 90 meter long bridge and a perfect experience especially for bird watchers. Later return to your hotel for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Transfer to Volcanoes national park
After your morning breakfast, you will checkout of the hotel and embark on your 6 hours journey to the Volcanoes national park where you will be in position to seeing the endangered mountain gorillas in their natural home. Along the way, expect a stopover at Lake Kivu where you will have great views of the landscapes and have time to take great photos of the Lake and other beautiful features.

The journey is full of beautiful sceneries, through the cultivated terraced hills and communities of the countryside. Upon arrival you will check into your lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Gorilla trekking adventure in the Volcanoes national park
After breakfast alongside with your packed lunch and drinking water we drive to Kinigi park headquarters to catch up the briefing session about the gorilla tracking guidelines. After briefing, you will be grouped into 8 and allocated a gorilla family to track, then enter into the jungle with the park guide in search for the giant gorillas. Once you locate the gorillas, will be allowed to interact with them for a period of 1 hour. The time spent in the forest depends on the movements of the primates in their natural environment.

Once you have finished your one hour of gorilla watching, you will go back to the park headquarter for you gorilla trekking certificate. Your guide will be waiting for you to drive you back to your lodge for relaxation after the long day while waiting for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Golden Monkey tracking and Departure
After breakfast we will drive to the Volcanoes national park headquarter for briefing about the golden monkey tracking guidelines. After briefing enter into the jungle which takes about 30 minutes to 4 hours or even more depending on their location because they are active primates.

Once you locate the golden monkeys, you will be allowed to spend 1 hour with them in their natural habitat. After tracking the golden monkeys, meet with your driver guide at the park headquarters and drive back to your lodge for lunch.

After lunch, we will check out of the hotel and drive back to Kigali International Airport or your hotel of residence for drop off.
