Boat trips in Akagera national park are done in the rivers and lakes located in both protected and non-protected areas in Rwanda. They are popular because of the relaxation, amazing wildlife, and panoramic views. Bird watching is rewarding while on a boat cruise near the banks of the rivers or lakes.

Rwanda is a mountainous country with a number of lakes and rivers covering around 10% of the country’s total land, the country’s biggest lake is Kivu which is shared by Rwanda and Democratic Republic Congo.

There are three pre-scheduled boat trips in Akagera national park and these include; day, morning and sunset. These allow you to enjoy the park from water level that is surrounded by the crocodiles, hippos, and birds.

This one-hour boat trip costs $40 per person at a maximum of 11 people and in case you want to schedule your own trip with a private group at your time, it will costs $180 to rent the whole boat.

You can as well take a boat safari within Akagera Park along Lake Ihema where you will see many hippos and crocodiles.
