The 7 Days Rwanda Primates Safari takes you to the southwest Nyungwe Forest National Park which is a vast tract of virgin forest. The park is the largest uncut natural forest reserves remaining in Africa. Also home to habituated chimpanzees and 12 other primates species (including a 400-strong troop of habituated Ruwenzori Black & White Colobus monkeys). It’s a birder’s paradise with over 300 species, including 16 endemics, and home to 75 different species of mammals.

Day 1: Arrival at Kigali International Airport
On arrival at Kigali International Airport in Rwanda, you will be received by one of our tour guides who will transfer you to the hotel. Depending on your arrival time, most likely, you will do a city tour to introduce you to the history and culture of this country of a thousand hills thereafter visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre.

Day 2: Visiting Nyungwe National Park
Early morning enjoy your breakfast and leave the hotel to western province, on your way visit the Royal Palace Museum and Ethnographic Museum in Southern Province. Afterward, you will head to Nyungwe National Park. Approximate driving time is 5 -7hours.

Day 3: Chimpanzee trekking
After an early breakfast head out to the park offices for a briefing. Later rally behind the park rangers in order to trek and see the primates. Return for lunch and after go to walk on the canopy walkway at Uwinka.

Day 4: Waterfall hike and tea plantation visit
After breakfast, depart for hiking the Kamiranzovu waterfalls. Visit the tea plantations and later head to Kibuye along the Kivu Lake to have a fantastic view of the country of a thousand hills.

Day 5: Kibuye – Volcanoes
After Breakfast, you will go for a boat ride and visit different islands in the Kivu Lake. Afterwards you will visit the environmental museum in Kibuye before heading to Volcanoes National park.

Day 6: Gorilla Trekking and Cultural visit
After an early morning breakfast, with packed lunch, transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing. The briefing will help you to clearly understand the code of conduct while with the gorillas. Enter into the forest in search of the gorillas in the forest which may take 2-6 hours.

The length of your search will depend on the movement of the gorillas. Meet and stay with the gorillas for a maximum of one hour. Ascend for a community walk to the Banyarwanda people and enjoy their different performances and also explore more about their unique culture.

Day 7: Golden Monkey Trekking
Finally, have an early morning breakfast and then proceed to the park headquarters to trek golden monkeys along with other primates. After you will be transferred to Kigali for your departure flight home.
