Gorilla habituation is the adventure of spending more time with the gorillas in their natural setting this exercise is done to train gorillas to get used to human beings but still in the wild, meaning they will not ran away when the sense the presence of human.

Bwindi impenetrable forest is the main national for gorilla habituation experience in Uganda. The park is located in the south western Uganda in the district of kabale and kanungu, it’s a very old forest which was crown as a Forest Reserves in 1932 and stretched on an area of about 298Km². Later in 1964, it was turned into an animal sanctuary in order to protect the mountain gorillas.

Bwindi impenetrable forest got a national park status in 19942 and the forest was recognized by UNESCO as a world heritage site in 1994 and Batwa people were reallocated from the forest because giving protection to the endangered species.

The site was recognized by UNESCO because of its unique of the biodiversity of flora and fauna including the gorillas themselves, woodland, plus the different types of flora and flora within the region. The trials offer beautiful scenic view of the Western Rift Valley, Rwenzori Mountains, Lake Edward, Bwindi Impenetrable forest and then Virunga Volcanoes.

Gorilla Habituation adventure Experience in Uganda takes place in the Southern area of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest national park in the Rushaga Region. In 2019 there are only 4-Permits a day since there is only one Group presently undergoing the Gorilla Habituation Process.

Gorilla Habituation take 2-3years to be completed and during this period of time, researchers have visits an identified Wild gorilla group on a daily retain. Gorilla habituation means to learn more about individual gorillas and the way they behave in their community or society. With time, these gorillas get used to these researchers and in the long run, each individual gorilla is given a name in regard to the activity or the way of life like behavior.

Gorilla Habituation Experience in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is as close as you can get to the ground without being a Researcher, ranger or tracker. Gorilla habituation Experience is not only a moment of discovery but also learning about the Primates behavior in the society and their ways of life, conservation and how the endangered Primates are on a comeback from near extinction and that in large part due to Gorilla Tourism and permits that pay for a large part of the conservation effort.

The process of habituation adventure experience requires one to purchase gorilla habituation permit from Uganda Wildlife Authority a government body in charge of all the protected areas of Uganda including the flora and fauna of the unprotected area. These permits can booked in advance because they are few and it’s for the purpose of conservation of these endangered species. Permits are purchased at USD $1500 per person per permit per trek.
